A man who changes business
Zenon Pokojski Ph.D., the coordinator and initiator of the PUŁAWY Competence Center was the winner of the first edition of a Polish prize “People who change business” which is the only one that concerns people and not companies contributing to the development of a responsible business in Poland. Its organizer is the Responsible Business Forum and the honorary patronage was taken by the President of the Polish Republic Andrzej Duda.
The contest jury awarded Zenon Pokojski Ph.D. for creation of the first Polish think-tank agricultural organization under the name of the PUŁAWY Competence Center which is a cooperation platform between agricultural entrepreneurs, agricultural advisors, science institutions and business.
So far we didn’t have in Poland an award that would appreciate work of people engaged for development of social business responsibility. Many rankings, overviews, competitions were focused on companies’ achievements. But behind their successes there were specific individuals: coordinators, managers, presidents but also representatives of business environment that supported them: non-governmental organisations, universities, public administration. The prize “people who change business” is to appreciate those who with their personal engagement and creative approach contribute to promote the idea of CSR in Poland and their activities and decisions influence standards obligatory in enterprises.
Winners of the first edition of the Prize “People who change business” has been presented during a solemn ceremony on 20th October 2015 in Warsaw in the Stanisławowski Theatre in the building of the Old Orangery, in the Royal Łazienki Park. The winners were awarded in categories of ‘business’ and ‘non-business sector’ with 45 and 15 candidates respectively. In each of them three equivalent prizes were awarded.
Responsible Business Forum is the longest operating, already for 15 years, and the biggest non-governmental organisation in Poland which deals with the concept of social business responsibility in a complex way. The forum is an organisation of ‘think-tank’ type which is an advocate of running a business in a responsible way which includes the influence of an enterprise on the environment and society.
