The PUŁAWY Competence Center has become a partner of the Baltic Programme for the years 2015-2020 realised in the scope of the Initiative of the Secretary General UN Global Compact in Poland  and a co-author of the report ‘Baltic for All’ which was inaugurated on 2nd October 2015 during the European Forum of New Ideas in Sopot. The PUŁAWY Competence Center realises initiatives of the UN system for the effective management of ecosystem and sea resources, analysis of eutrophication sources as well as restoration of a good ecological condition of the Baltic Sea.

The PUŁAWY Competence Center works on research projects aiming at increasing effectiveness of fertilizing and, at the same time, limiting a negative influence of the agricultural activity on the environment. Engagement of the PUŁAWY Competence Center in the performance of the Baltic Programme 2015-2020 aims at promotion and spreading responsible and sustainable agricultural practices.

We invite you to read the “Baltic for All” report and especially the chapter titled “Protection of the Baltic Sea Ecosystem”. In the report an article of a represenative of the Scientific Council of the PUŁAWY Competence Center prof. Janusz Igras Ph. D. titled “Analysis of reasons and consequences of eutrophication of the Baltic Sea bed and activity directions for decreasing drain of biogenic substances to the Baltic Sea waters” has been published.

Eutrophication of surface waters, rivers and, as a consequence, the Baltic Sea is an especially important issue for the Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY as a company responsible for its impact on the environment. Consortium members of the Center: the president of the Grupa Azoty Paweł Jarczewski and the vice-president of the Grupa Azoty PUŁAWY Zenon Pokojski Ph.D. write in the report about the need of having a new look at the agriculture and responsability for their products.
